Visa for Familiy Reunification (Minor child to parent)
Checklist for a German National Visa
- FAMILY REUNIFICATION CHILD -
You can apply for this visa, if you are a minor and one of your parents is living in Germany and has a valid residence permit for Germany.
Before booking an appointment, please prepare the following documentation for your visa. The following documents are to be submitted personally together with both parents (the ones in custody) at the Embassy after booking an appointment.
DOCUMENTS:
Fully completed and signed application form for “national visa”. Both parents or the parent holding the sole custody have to sign the form. (here)
Where applicable: Declaration fully completed and signed regarding contact details and power of attorney
Valid passport (valid for at least 6 months and with at least two (2) completely empty pages)
Recent biometric passport photos (see specimen photos, other photos cannot be accepted and delay the visa process)
Invitation letter of parent indicating the address where the applicant will stay in Ger[1]many and explaining the situation
Copy of the passport of both parents
Original legalized birth certificate (“acte de naissance & jugement suppletif” when birth before 2016) (if it is a non-Rwandan certificate the authentication might have to be certified by the German Embassy of the respective country)
If other parent stays in Rwanda: authorization for resettlement of child
if applicable: legalized original marriage certificate (“acte de mariage”) of the parents (if it is a non-Rwandan certificate the authentication might have to be certified by the German Embassy of the respective country)
If applicable: legalized proof of change of custody (e.g. court order, documents about adoption, death certificate of parent)
If applicable: Legalized acknowledgement of paternity
If the applicant is 16 years or older: Original proof of German language skills (equivalent C1 level of Goethe Institute might be necessary)
Proof of adequate health insurance cover
Health insurance upon entry for at least 90 days of your stay that adheres to
Schengen rules and regulations.
In its terms and conditions, travel health insurance can exclude protection if a long-term or permanent stay is planned. So-called incoming travel insurance can also contain such
exclusions.
In case of previous long term stays in Germany: deregistration conformation from the registration office of the last place of residence
If the parent in Germany is not German national, EU citizen:
Copy of the residence permit of parent in Germany
Tenancy contract of parent
Proof of financial means of parent:
o work contract,
o pay-slips of at least the last 3 months AND
o bank statements of at least the last 3 months
Processing fee of 75 €. Payable only in cash in RWF.
Applicant of a nationality other than Rwandan:
Proof of habitual abode by “residence permit/visa”
