Providing water to local communities

Residents of Gikombe and Gahame, two communities in eastern Rwanda, have celebrated the completion of a water pipeline and the installation of several fresh water tanks. Inga Klünder-Preuß, representing the German Embassy, was able to inaugurate this project, which will improve the quality of life of both communities in the Kayonza District. It is the first time that the residents of Gikombe and Gahame find running water on their doorstep. Previously, women and children had spent at least two hours a day walking the three kilometers to the nearest water source. The German Embassy thanks the work of the German-Rwandan working group that initiated the project about a year ago for the timely completion of the facilities. Their project has been financially supported by the micro project fund of the German Embassy Kigali.
